Congruence = When there is similaritybetween a person's real self and their ideal self
A healthy sense of wellbeing is established if an individual maintains a reasonable consistency between ideal self and actual / perceived self. This is known as congruence.
The way you seeyourself or who you are mustrelatetotheperson you wanttobe.
If the gap between the ideal self and actual / perceived self is too big, then incongruence will occur (and self-actualisation will not be established).
The greater the gap between the ideal self and the actual / perceived self, the greater the incongruence. Incongruence can lead to low mental health and conditions, such as low self-esteem, depression, eating disorders, etc.
