    • lots of decisions made in order to be successful
    • taught to more experienced players
    • can take a lot of time to master

    • unstable environment
    • the way you do the skill is affected by people around you
    • often externally paced
  • Closed skill
    • stable environment
    • the way you do the skill is not affected by people around you
    • usually self paced
    • the skill is done the same way every time
  • Self paced skill
    • the start of the movement is controlled by the performer
    • the speed and pace of the movement is controlled by you
  • Externally paced skill
    • the start of the movement is controlled by external factors
    • the speed and pace of the movement is controlled by external factors

    • involves big movements of the body
    • involves the use of large muscle groups
    • movements do not rely on accuracy and precision

    • involves small, precise movements
