translation

Cards (5)

  • once modified mRNA leaves nucleus it attaches to small units on ribosomes at the start codons
  • the tRNA molecule with the complimentary anticodon to start codon align opposite mRNA held in place by ribosomes
  • the two amino acids delivered by tRNA molecule are joined together via a peptide bind catalysed by enzyme using ATP
  • the ribosome moves along the tRNA allowing the next complementary anticodon to align to next codon on mRNA
  • this continues until ribosomes reach stop codon causing ribosome to detach and stops translation
