• sense of identity is the sense of belonging to a group, a nation, or a culture.
• multiple identities - when someone identifies with more than one source of belonging or loyalty
• young people who belong to a black or minority ethnic group have to balance the values, culture and traditions of that ethnic group against mainstream british traditions
• migration - moving from one place to another
• colony - land overseas governed and controlled by another country
• british empire - countries governed and controlled by the UK
• Immigration - arriving from a country
• Asylum - refuge and protection from discrimination and violence
• Emigration - leaving a country
• Immigration - Emigration = Net Migration
• Economic Migration - moving from one place to another to improve standards of living
• Political Migration - Moving from one country to another to improve human rights
• Deportation - being returned to a country of original
• Community Cohesion - neighbors living together with respect and cooperation
• the equality act 2010 gave all public authorities a legal responsibility to promote equality of opportunity
• according to the princes trust around 1/8 young people in the UK are not in work
