  We don't want to be rejected or ridiculed.

  Based around a desire to fit in

  An important condition here is we must believe we are under surveillance by the rest of the group.

  Desire to be accepted by the group.
• Informative Social Influence

  Occurs in unfamiliar or ambiguous situations- used when we are unclear of how to behave.

  When we are unsure, we look to others for the right answer.

  Motivated by a desire to be correct.
