Factors that should be kept constant during a photosynthesis experiment : temperature and concentart of co2
Biochemical process- chemical reaction that occurs in a living thing.
Factor that affect photosynthesis;light,water,co2,chlorophyll,temp
Sunlight - absorbed by the leaves. Leaves have large surfaces to allow them absorbasmuch light as possible. The more intensifiedlight is the larger the rate of photosynthesis is.
Water - plants get water from the soil (roots).
water is needed for glucose to be made as it allows enzymes to work so that photosynthesis can take place.
Temperature - photosynthesis is an enzymecontrolledreaction (affected by the temperature).
ideal temperature for photosynthesis in most plants is 20° to 30°.
If the temp is too high enzymes deteriorate - reducing the rate of photosynthesis
Co2 - carbon dioxide enters leaves through tiny openings called stomata.
if CO2 is short the rate of photosynthesis will slow down. More Co2 = higher rate of photosynthesi.
chlorophyll - green pigment
it absorbslight and allows photosynthesis to take place.
It isn’t used for photosynthesis but it acts as a catalyst (speeds up the reaction without being used)
Less chlorophyll = reduced rate of photosynthesis
Chemical equation for photosynthesis
Endothermic reaction - it absorbs light to make food
Too much chlorophyll - reduces the rate of photosynthesis as it traps less light - low rate if photosynthesis
lighting - if you increase it too much it will get up to a point where it will no longer increase so Co2 will be in short supply.
