Group O elements

Cards (2)

    • All have eight electrons in their outer Shell (apart from helium which has two) giving them a full outer Shell
    • meaning they are unreactive as they don't need to loose or gain electrons
    • exist as monatomic gases
    • They are colourless gases at room temperature
    • non flammable
  • Patterns as you move down the group:
    • Boiling points increase
    • this is because of an increase of electrons in each atom causing greater intermolecular forces which are harder to overcome
