• Phrases - The combination of motifs that form melodies. The musical symbol to indicate it is a curved line seen above or below the notes.
• Phrases may be contrasting, similar, or separated with some small changes in rhythm or melodic line.
• Strophic - Musical form where the melody corresponds to and is heard repeatedly in the entire composition
• Binary - Musical form with two different sections. Known as AB musical form.
• Ternary - Musical form with three distinct parts. It has an ABA structure.
• D.C. AI Coda - Means to go back to the beginning and jump or proceed on the coda sign.
• D.C al Fine - Means to go back to the beginning and end at fine.
• Dal Segno - Means sign.
• D.S al Fine - Means to go back at the sign and end at fine.
• D.S - Means dal segno
• D.C - Means da capo
• Pianississimo, ppp - very, very soft
• Pianissimo, pp - very soft
• Piano, p - soft
• Mezzo piano, mp - moderately soft
• mezzo forte, mf - moderately loud
• Forte, f - loud
• Fortissimo, ff - very loud
• Fortississimo, fff - very, very loud
• Crescendo, < - Gradually becoming loud
• Decrescendo, > - gradually becoming soft
