• Post-War america was known as "the Era of consensus". A consensus based on values opposed to those of the USSR.

  communism
• Patriotism vs.

  internationalism
• Religious conviction vs. godlessness / atheism (central role of the nuclear family)
• Capitalism vs.

  socialism (importance of "free entreprise" and government should not have a role in the economy)
