  • Microscopy practical 

    1. Peel epidermal layer off the onion using forceps
    2. Place onto microscope slide
    3. Add 2 drops of iodine to stain cells, this allows to see the organelles better
    4. Place cover slip, making sure there are no air bubbles
    5. Place slide on the stage of the microscope
    6. Place stage of microscope until cover slip touches objective
    7. Look through eye piece and adjust the coarse and fine adjustment knobs if needed
    8. Draw a labeled diagram
  • Safety precautions for the use of microscopy practical:
    • wear safety goggles while handling iodine solution
    • handle microscope carefully
