Safety precautions for enzymes practical:
-Careful
using
hot
water
-If using bunsen burner,
tie
hair
and use
goggles
Sources of error for enzymes practical:
-Intervals
between
testing
may be
too
long
to
accurately
find
time
taken
for
starch
to
completely
breakdown
Enzyme practical method:
Place a drop of
iodine
solution
into each
spot
on the
spotting
tile.
Into one
test
tube
add
starch
solution.
And in the other add
1
cm^3 of
buffer
solution and
2
cm^3 of
amylase
solution.
Place the test tubes into a
warm
water
bath.
Then quickly pour
amylase
and
buffer
solution into test tube with
starch
and start
stopwatch.
Using a
pipette
take some
mixture
add place into
spotting
tile.
Wait
10
seconds
and take another
drop
from
mixture
and add to
spotting
tile.
Repeat
every
10
seconds
until iodine doesn't turn
black
anymore and stays
orange.
Repeat
experiment with different
pH
values.
