Photosynthesis practical

Cards (3)

  • Photosynthesis practical
    1. Using measuring cylinder pour 40cm^3 of sodium hydroxide carbonate into a test tube
    2. Place pondweed into the test tube
    3. Leave pondweed to acclimatise for about 5 minutes
    4. Start stopwatch and count the number of bubbles per minute
    5. Repeat 2 more times for a mean
    6. Repeat steps 2-5 for different distances from light source
    7. Using the collected data, plot a graph
  • Safety precautions for photosynthesis practical:
    -allergy risk from pondweed
    -lamp may be hot
-make sure to keep water away from electrical outlets
  • Sources of error for photosynthesis practical:
-temperature may also be a factor affecting rate of photosynthesis
-bubbles may be produced to quickly to be counted
