  • Allied nations met at Versailles shortly after the war
  • The Allied were debating the terms of peace, for the Central Powers about final peace settlement of WWI.
  • In 1918, at the Versailles treaty, France forced Germany to accept the responsibility for starting the war.
  • Germany had to reduce the size of its army and also give up its overseas colonies.
  • The two territories, Alsace and Lorraine of France that were occupied by Germany returned to France.
  • Germany also had to pay 6.6 billion dollar for damages caused during the war
  • But this harsh or unfair treaty served as one of the causes of WWII.
