Many migrants came for work as transatlantic and slave trade grew. Ayahs and Lascars came for work via the EIC, and Jewish migrants were allowed to return after being expelled in 1290 to help boost the economy
Many migrants also came for religious reasons. Huguenots were escaping persecution onStBartholomew'sDay. They were protestants and in 1550Edward6th allowed a protestant church in england. England only fully became protestant in Lizzy 1st rule (1560s onwards)
Palatines too fled Germany as they were facing persecution in central Europe, invited over as thought to be protestants. 33% were caltholic and so kicked out. Only in may-nov1709.
Many migrants also came because of royal invitation. Oliver Crowmwell allowed jews to return again (in 1656) post-1290, and Aldagte became a thriving Jewish area in 1656
