  • Strengths
Because we’re using a between-subjects design our study directly measures how effective note taking is depending on the means through the assessment of a test–offering high construct and internal validity. In other words, this subject design reduces carryover, practise, and fatigue effects often found within-subject designs.
  • Weaknesses
Our study’s population sample consists of only first year psychology students. This makes it difficult to generalise the findings onto students in different years and programs. We know that different years and programs have course loads that correspond to it’s respective “level.” The methods in which students in other programs take notes may differ depending on whether it is qualitative or quantitive. Thus, our study has issues with external validity.
