  • Our research questions seeks to generalise and expand on previous studies elaborating and exploring the effectiveness of handwritten and typed notes for students.
By focusing exclusive on Psychology students, our research helps those in the discipline to choose the method that is going to benefit them.
  • The purpose of our study still adds to the general existing scholarly research.
    (1) It replicates and validates previous trials(2) allows for the comparison of methodologies and analyse how the current study design and data collection differs from past research, and(3) this comparison can offer valuable insights into potential strengths and weaknesses of each approach and contribute to methodological advancements in future studies.
  • What we found was that students who hand wrote notes performed slightly better than those who did not. This is consistent with many previous research studies. Because it is only slight, we believe that more research is needed to help better define both methods, thus leading to more discernible benefits; or the latter, whether there is even a “more” beneficial method to begin with.
  • With this study, our hopes were to gain a better understanding into the optimal note-taking method. Identifying the more effective method can contribute to the development of evidence-based practises that can improve a students’ overall academic performance and learning experience.
