Asian American Movement

• Started in California.

  Emma Gee- a member of the BSU at UCAL Berkeley, decided to make her own student union for Asian people. She wrote down the phone number of everyone that sounded Asian, asking people to join her group and be allies.

  Formed the Asian American Political Alliance- pan-Asian focus, meant to unite all Asian-American populations because they’re all facing the same challenges.
• AAPA- Richard Aoki, A SPYYYYYY.

  AAPA worked with the TWLF (3rd World Liberation Front) to stage the longest student strikes in history, went on for around 5 months.

  Wanted better scholarship opportunities, more work study programs, the strikes are successful.

  Every Uni in the country has World study programs of some sort because of these students.
