    Milgram investigated obedience with his "shock experiment"
    • Participants were asked by an experimenter in a lab coat to administer "shocks" to a confederate if they answered a question incorrectly
    • The shock scale ranged from 15V to 450V
    • Participants met the confederate and watched them as they were strapped into the "shock" chair
    • No participant stopped administrating shocks before 300V, regardless of the confederates 'cries'
    • Participants were not aware that the 'shocks' administered were fake prior to the experiment
