wear safety goggles
add dilute sulfuric acid to a beaker
use a spatula to add copper oxide/carbonate one spatula at a time
continue adding copper oxide/carbonate until it's in excess
filter excess copper oxide/carbonate with filter paper & a funnel
pour solution in an evaporating basin
heat using a bunsen burner
leave solution to crystallise
scrape crystals onto a paper towel & pat dry
