    1. pour 50 cm3 of copper (II) chloride solution / sodium chloride solution into a beaker
    2. place a petri dish w 2 holes over the beaker
    3. put carbon graphite rods into each hole
    4. attach crocodile leads to the rods & connect them to the terminals of a low voltage power supply
    5. select 4 V on the power supply & switch it on
