• measured with electrodes attached to the scalp
• small charges detected by the electrodes graphed over a period of time
• 4 types of eeg pattern - synchronised (detected pattern)

  1. amplitude - intensity of activity
  2. frequency - quantity of activity
• brain scans are used to locate areas of the brain that are active during certain tasks or behaviours
