Abnormal Motor and Sensory Findings in Spinal Cord Injuries

Cards (4)

  • Brown-Sequard syndrome - ipsilateral loss of strength and proprioception. Contralateral loss of pain and temperature.
  • Central cord syndrome - sacral sparing. Preferentially upper - more than lower - extremity weakness. With bladder dysfunction. A variable degree of sensory loss below level of the cord lesion.
  • Anterior cord syndrome - loss of motor function as well as pain and temperature. Proprioception is preserved.
  • Posterior cord syndrome - loss of proprioception. Variable preservation of motor function and pain and pain and temperature sensation.
