Abrasion: When the force of the water throws bed-load against the river banks wearing them down.
Hydraulic action: When the force of the water traps air in cracks on the river bank, the air compresses which puts pressure on the cracks and causing rocks/materials to be dislodged.
Attrition: Occurs when rocks in suspension hit off each other eroding further.
Solution: When acids in the river water reacts with soluble materials in the bedrock and dissolves them, they are then washed away.
