  • What are non - communicable diseases?
    Diseases caused from inside your body e.g cancer
  • What are communicable diseases?
    Diseases caused by a pathogen etc. chicken pox
  • What are pathogens?
    Disease-causing microorganisms.
  • What are viruses?
    Reproduce by inserting genes into cells to make more copies e.g measles
  • What is bacteria?
    Release toxins into your body that damage cells e.g salmonella
  • What is fungi?
    They damage cells by using protists
    e.g malaria

    Rose black spot (fungus) - causes leaves to fall off
    Tobacco mosaic virus-discolours leaves has less chlorophyll

    White blood cells that neutralise toxins made by pathogens
  • What are phagocytes?
    White blood cells that engulf and destroy pathogens.
  • What is a vaccine?
    An injection of a dead version of your virus to help you gain back immunity without becoming ill

    Kill bacteria e.g aspirin
  • What are synthetic drugs tested on before humans?
    Cells tissue and animals
