• Selective Breeding= breeding of organisms to produce desired characteristics, e.g. dogs with long hair
• Reasons for Selective Breeding:

  • Animals produce more meat or milk
  • Disease resistance in food crops
  • Large or unusual flowers (ones in shop)
  • Domestic dogs with gentle nature
• Process of Selective Breeding:

  1. Find desired characteristics in parents and breed
  2. Choose offspring with desired characteristics
  3. Repeat step 1 then 2
