• The Trinity is the belief that there is one God in three persons. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
• Traditionally Christians believe that God became incarnate to fix the broken relationship between God and humans.
• Christians believe that there was a prophecy from Isaiah that said, 'The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. Immanuel means, 'God with us'. Christians believe Jesus was 'God with us' on earth.
• Traditionally Christians believe Jesus was fully human. He did not just appear, but was born as a baby. He experienced everything humans experience like hunger or pain.
• Traditionally Christians believe that Jesus is God incarnate (become flesh). This is partly because of the prophecy which said he would be called 'God with us.'
• The gifts given to Jesus in the story express the belief that he was a king, that he was God and that he would die for people's sin. For example, Gold was what you would give to a King. It shows the belief that Jesus was the Messiah whose Kingdom would never end. Frankincense is incense that was used in worship. This shows the belief that Jesus was God and should be worshipped. Myrrh was used to embalm dead bodies. It shows the belief that Jesus came to earth to die for people's sins.

• One way in which the belief in the incarnation influences Christians today is that they will worship Jesus. This is because the incarnation is the belief that God became human in the form of Jesus. As Christians believe Jesus is God, they will worship him.
• Another way in which the belief in the incarnation influences Christians is that they will celebrate Christmas. For example, they may put on a nativity play to retell the story of Jesus' birth.
