  • 3 types of bonding:
    • ionic bonding - particles are oppositely charged ions, between non-metals and metals, electrons are transferred
    • covalent bonding - particles are atoms, between non-metals and most non-metallic elements, electrons are shared
    • metallic bonding - particles are atoms, between metallic elements and alloys, electrons are delocalised
  • Ionic bonding - the electrostatic attraction between the oppositely charged ions.
