• This is what a brown earth soil profile looks like: 4 layers

  
• Ao Horizon: Deciduous forest vegetation, abundant leaf litter, thick mull humus, fast decomposition due to mild/warm climate, moderate rainfall
• A Horizon: Dark brown colour, well aerated, loamy texture, abundance of Biota due to mild/warm climate so indistinct horizons
• B Horizon: Lighter brown than A Horizon, well drained soil
• C Horizon: Weathered parent material, roots help to break up this rock and roots also take nutrients up through soil and recycle it
