Tissues that line organs are called Epithelia Tissues
Ciliated Epithelium Cells have tiny hair-like projections called Cilia
Cilia are able to beat (wave backwards and forwards) to move liquids along
[An Organ] A collection of different cell tissues carrying out a particular function
[Tissues] Cells that have a similar function which are grouped together
[Stem Cell] A cell that is able to divide many times by Mitosis, WITHOUT undergoing differentiation. Later, it can differentiate into Specialised Cells such as Muscle or Nerve cells
Two main types of Stem Cells in Humans:
[Embryonic stem cells] found in the early stages of development of an Embryo. They can differentiate into ANY type of BODY Cell
[Adult stem cells] found in certain Adult Tissues, such as Bone Marrow, and the lining of the Intestine. They DON'T have the ability to differentiate into ANY type of Cell, but can form a number of specialised Tissues
---> For example, Bone Marrow cells can divide many times, but are only able to produce different types of Red and White Blood cell.
[Stem Cell Therapy] The use of Stem Cells to treat or prevent a Disease, OR to repair damaged Tissues
