• Solvent = the thing that does the dissolving

  Solute = the thing that gets dissolved
• Factors affecting the rate of diffusion:

  • surface area : volume ratio → the bigger a cell / structure is = slower
  • distance → smaller distance = quicker
  • temperature → higher temp, more movement → more kinetic energy
  • concentration gradient →greater = faster
