Push and pull factors

• Push: The middle east is a politically unstable region with many protests, riots and civil wars
• Push: Civil war broke out in Syria in 2011 between demonstrators and President Assad's regime
• Push: Neighbourhoods and cities are being bombed daily, this is causing Syrians to escape the bombs for their own safety
• Push: Human rights abusers threaten the safety of Syrians
• Push: Syrias economy is crippled by the war with chronically high unemployment, so Syrians want to get away from the lack of jobs
• Push: Lack of food and medical care available in Syria
• Push: Education/schooling has been interrupted with many of them bombed
• Pull: Countries such as Lebanon are attractive to Syrians because Lebanon has a strong economy, thereby making the chances of a job much likelier
• Pull: Many Syrians have already migrated to Lebanon and Jordan, so another reason for Syrians is to join their families and escape the war
• Pull: Syrias land border with Lebanon makes it relatively easy to cross the border
