Aerobic & Anaerobic respiration

• Aerobic respiration word equation:

  glucose + oxygen → carbon dioxide + water
• Aerobic respiration chemical equation:

  C6H12O6 +  6 O2 → 6 CO2 + 6 H2O
• Anaerobic respiration (in muscles):

  glucose → lactic acid
• Anaerobic respiration (in plant and yeast cells):

  glucose → ethanol + carbon dioxide
• In yeast cells anaerobic respiration is called fermentation. This process is used to make bread and alcohol drinks.
