• USA= Hadaway et al found people who claim to attend church is 83% higher than church statistics (religion as a tool for social mobility)
• Explaining secularisation= Bruce said that Geographical mobility means religious word is being challenged + technological world view has replaced supernatural
• Criticisms= Aldridge says religion has globalized belief networks so it's not longer area specific so hard to measure
