• what happens in the carbon cycle?

  1. co2 is removed from the atmosphere by green plants and algae by photosynthesis
  2. when plants get eaten by animals they take the carbon and it moves through the food chain
  3. when the animals respire some of the carbon is returned to the atmosphere
  4. the combustion of wood and fossil fuels releases co2 into the atmosphere
