  • Compare conformity to obedience in terms of social influence.
Conformity occurs when an individual changes their behaviour to align with the majority, whereas, obedience is when an individual responds to a direct order from an authority figure. The authority figure presents the individual with an explicit rule to follow, whereas, during conformity an imaginary or real pressure to follow an implicit rule, such as a social norm is present.
