The Cold War served as a source of tension in different areas in Asia, Africa and Latin America
one of the areas of tensions was in Korea
After the defeat of Japan in 1945, the Russians occupied the northern part of Korea and US America occupied the Southern part of Korea.
Both the USA and the USSR competed to expand their ideologies on their occupations led to the Korean War of 1950-53.
