    has connotations of drawings, art and achieved order/harmony. This suggests like Jamies picture the whole universe is mapped out, planned and formulated. This links to how fate or destiny acts like some deity or force that controls our lives
  • "flutter in his signature"
    just as the boys signature imperfect, flawed and blemished as his hand shakes so too the tiny imperfections, mistakes and weaknesses in our world is what makes us human. This suggests how despite his defects the speaker views his son as complete
  • "The dream is taxed."
    metaphor - just as being taxed is a punishment, demanding and controlling so too are dreams limiting, unpredictable and a struggle. This suggests that he thinks there is always a price to pay in life. This could be due to fate as it is unpredictable and causes hindrances causing dreams to be different to reality
  • "bowstring and the mark"

    metaphor - just as a bowstring represents aim, accuracy and precision so too are people hoping to be when making plans and goals. However as this is lost, it suggests that once the arrow is released we have no control over the consequences. Similarly fate takes over our lives

    has connotations of word of god, proof of existence and transcendental control. This conveys how another force controls, plans and takes over life. This suggests how fate has everything written out and predestined
  • "and trust to Krishna or to fate"

    has connotations of love, compassion and protection. This conveys the tenderness, patience and kindness that Krishna offers. We are trusting religion to keep us right, yet it is only half achieved and we have no full understanding of the universe
  • "our will and natures are the same"
    "will" has connotations of law, power and command. This conveys how our plans are just as strong, rigid and firm as natures is showing that perhaps fate has equal control in our lives. It also could suggest how nature created us the way we were meant to be and it being part of fate
