Sweep Netting

• Suitable for collecting invertebrates from pond or stream (also suitable for woodland or grassland just above ground level), standard method must be used for technique e.g. 3 sweeps over a 3 metre stretch of pond
• Organisms are transferred to a tray of water and number of each species counted; if grassland a white sheet and identify/count them
• Walk through grassland with a net and make wide arc sweeps through vegetation; catch small invertebrates
