• October 1918, British Navy dominating the seas + allied armies advancing into germany
• kiel mutiny was on the 3rd of november 1918
• Germany refused to give up so they set up communities called Soviets which were socialist/communist groups that looked after communities that didn't follow the government
• although the government was able to restore control it showed that the Berlin government could be challenged
