in 1919, Ebert signed the TOV which many people saw as a betrayal
The Freikorps had risked their lives putting down the Spartacists for the last year so they saw the signing as a form of treason
March 1920, the Weimar government urged to reduce the size of the army and outlaw the freikorps
The Freikorps, Dr Wolfgang Kapp, and the leader of Berlin, General Luttwitz marched into the city with 5000 supporters and seized power. Ebert fled the city again
Ebert was rejected by the army for support as they refused to attack fellow Germans
Many Berliners helped Ebert as they had no sympathy for left-wingers like Kapp
Kapp fled the city as he didn't have enough support to govern, and the Kapp Putsch had failed
The Weimar had survived but looked very weak as their army couldn't even put down 400 soldiers part of the putsch
