  • Chlamydia
    One of the most common sexually transmitted infections caused by bacteria
  • Chlamydia
    • You can get this from sexual intercourse, anal sex or oral sex
    • This STI is treatable and curable
  • Chlamydia can spread through sexual intercourse, anal sex or oral sex and can also occur when sharing sex toys with someone with chlamydia
  • Chlamydia
    A disease that in women initially produces no symptoms and in men causes a burning sensation during urination and a discharge from the penis
  • Women can get chlamydia in the cervix, rectum, or throat; men can get chlamydia in the urethra (inside the penis), rectum, or throat
  • Trichomoniasis
    A common and curable STI caused by a parasite, it is often without symptoms, especially in men
  • Trichomoniasis can spread during sexual intercourse - in semen (cum) and vaginal fluids
  • Trichomoniasis
    Can cause painful urination and intercourse, a discharge from the vagina, and an unpleasant odor
  • Trichomoniasis is spread when semen and vaginal fluids get on and inside your penis, vulva, or vagina
  • Syphilis
    Treatable with medication, can permanently damage your heart, brain, muscles, bones, and eyes
  • Syphilis spreads when you have vaginal, anal, or oral sex with someone who has the infection

    First reveals itself through a small sore at the point of sexual contact. In its secondary stage, it may include a rash
  • Genital Herpes (Herpes Simplex)

    A virus related to the cold sores that sometimes appear around the mouth, first appears as small blisters or sores around the genitals that later break open, causing severe pain
  • Genital herpes heal after a few weeks, but the disease usually reappears, typically four or five times in the year following infection
  • The genital herpes infection, which cannot be cured, often causes psychological distress for those who know they are infected
  • Genital herpes can spread through close contact with a person who has the infection, the virus can be found in skin and saliva
  • Genital Warts
    Type of STI that causes warts (small bumps or growths) to form in and around genitals and rectum, caused by Human Papilloma Virus (HPV)
  • Genital warts are small, lumpy warts that form on or near the penis or vagina, are easy to diagnose because of their distinctive appearance: Look like small cauliflower bulbs, they usually form about two months after exposure and can be treated with a drug called metronidazole
  • Genital warts can spread through skin-to-skin contact during sex or intercourse including anal, vaginal-penile and vaginal-vaginal, genital touching, giving oral sex to someone with genital warts and receiving oral sex with someone with genital warts on their mouth, lips or tongue
  • Gonorrhea
    Caused by a bacteria called Neisseria Gonorrhoeae, can spread through sexual fluids, including vaginal fluid and semen
  • You can get gonorrhea from intercourse, anal sex, oral sex, or sharing sex toys with infected person
  • Gonorrhea
    Often has no symptoms but can produce a burning sensation when urinating or a discharge from the penis or vagina, can lead to fertility problems and, in women, pelvic inflammatory disease, babies can be infected during childbirth if their mothers are infected, in babies, gonorrhea most commonly affects the eyes
  • HIV & AIDS
    Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that causes Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), a fatal, sexually transmitted infection caused by a virus that destroys the body's immune system, AIDS is the final and most serious stage of HIV
  • However, there are several ways to reduce the risk of contracting AIDS (as well as other sexually transmitted infections); these methods have come to be called "safer sex" practices

    • Fever
    • Chills
    • Fatigue
    • Sore throat
    • Muscle aches
    • Night sweats
    • Rash
    • Swollen lymph nodes
    • Mouth sores
  • Stages of HIV
    • Stage 1: Acute HIV - Some people get flu-like symptoms a month or 2 after they've been infected with HIV, these symptoms can go away within a week to a month
    • Stage 2: Chronic Stage/Clinical Latency - You can have HIV for many years without feeling sick, you can still spread HIV with others even if you feel well
    • Stage 3: AIDS - The most serious stage of HIV infection, will severely weakened your immune system and opportunistic infections are much more likely to make you sick
  • Sexual Problems
    • Erectile dysfunction: The inability of a male to achieve or maintain an erection
    • Premature ejaculation: The inability of a male to delay orgasm as long as he wishes
    • Inhibited ejaculation: The inability of a male to ejaculate when he wants to, if at all
    • Anorgasmia: A female's lack of orgasm
    • Inhibited sexual desire: A sexual dysfunction in which the motivation for sexual activity is restrained or lacking entirely
