  • Sports play a vital role in keeping the society active
  • Extended preparation is needed, and people are assigned specific tasks for sports
  • Sports have become part of our society
  • Different Sports Categories
    • Individual Sports
    • Dual Sports
    • Team Sports
    • Outdoor, Challenge and Extreme sports
  • Individual Sports
A sport in which a single individual participates, most often to perform to the best of his or her ability
  • Dual or Partner Sports
A sport that can be done with another person
  • Team Sports
A sport in which a group of more than two individuals work together to defeat an opposing group of the same number of individuals, requiring teammates, and often, special pieces of equipment and courts or playing venues
  • Outdoor or Challenge Sports, and Extreme Sports
Some recreational activities such as mountain biking, rock climbing or hiking are considered as sports and are sometimes referred to as outdoor or challenge sports. On the other hand, activities such as free diving, motocross, and whitewater kayaking are often referred to as extreme sports.
  • Injuries that you might get if you are not fit enough

    • Injuries from physical contact (Martial Arts or Team Sports)
    • Injuries due to fast sprinting (Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Frisbee)
    • Injuries due to sudden fast starts and stops (Track and Field, Basketball)
    • Injuries due to vigorous jumping (Basketball, Volleyball, High Jump, Soccer)
    • Injuries due to bad falls (Martial Arts, Judo, Skateboard)
    • Injuries due to overstretching of muscles (Tennis)
  • Phosphagen system
It is through this system that muscles obtain energy the fastest. Short spurts of intense activity such as a six-second sprint or a tennis serve are fueled through this system.
  • Anaerobic system
This system is responsible for anaerobic glycolysis, which provides energy that keeps muscles contracting. In anaerobic glycolysis, glycogen or glucose is broken down to produce adenosine triphosphate (ATP) without using oxygen.
  • Aerobic system
This system provides the energy needed to produce movement, albeit at a slower rate compared to the previous two systems. However, this system can provide much more energy than the phosphagen and anaerobic systems.
  • People play their preferred sports even during their leisure time, even as some sports are formalized into official competitions, whether:

    • Local
    • Regional
    • National
    • International
