Edge and lane lines are solid lines along the side of the road that show you where the edge of the road or lane is located.
White lane markings are solid white lines used to mark both edges of two-way roads, right edge of one-way roads, and to separate bicycle lanes from other traffic. You should not drive to the right of the edge line or in the bicycle lane.
A dashed white line between lanes of traffic means that you may cross it to change lanes if it is safe. A solid white line between lanes of traffic means that you should stay in your lane unless a special situation requires you to change lanes.
Yellow lane markings are solid yellow lines that mark the left edge of one-way roads and separate traffic moving in opposite directions. A dashed yellow line between opposing lanes of traffic means that you may cross it to pass if it is safe to do so.
A dashed yellow line means all traffic may pass when safe. Solid yellow lines mean no passing is allowed. One solid and one dashed yellow line means traffic next to the dashed line may pass when safe.
