  • Early 1970's- Black Power Movement had fizzled out:
    • was always relatively ill-defined & poorly organised
    • was unrealistic in thinking America was ripe for revolution
    • was sexist & alienated its female supporters
    • lost the white Liberal funding that supported the SNCC and the CORE before their switch to radicalism ( the SNCC excluded white members-1966, the CORE excluded them-1968)
    • attracted the hostility of the white authorities who pursued & silenced Black Power leaders
  • However the Movement had a lasting impact
