• The 2012 Globe production of Twelfth Night used an all male cast to replicate the traditional way Shakespeare's play were done
• The 2017 National Theatre production used Tasmin Grieg to play a female Malvolio called 'Malvolia'
• The 2017 National Theatre production used a more modern staging than other productions making it seem like the play takes place in the modern day
• The 2017 RSC production is done in a Victorian setting
• In the 1996 Trevor Nunn film Sebastian's character is shown before Viola disguises herself therefore informing the audience that she is paying homage to her 'thought to be deceased' brother
• In the 2012 Globe production there is a lot of physical comedy that comes from the way the characters move across the stage and interact with each other (for example the pouring of wax onto Malvolio/the chasing people on stage/the characters supposedly 'hiding' on stage). This aspect of the play cannot be viewed through the script and therefore is up for interpretation.
