• method of soft water vs hard =

  1. Add a fixed (control variable) volume of soap - 1cm^3 - to a fixed volume of water in a test tube
  2. shake for an equal no of times
• Method:

  1. add a fixed (control ) volume of soap (1cm3) to a fixed volume of water in a test tube
  2. shake for an equal number of times
  3. If lather does not form and last for 20s add another fixed volume of soap and shake
  4. repeat until a lather forms same experiment for to identify type of water by boiling
• sample A = 10 cm soap needed before lather

  B = 1 cm

  C = 9cm

  B is the only soft water sample rest are hard water
