    for both teams and individuals - promotes the sport ( Companies and sponsors want to be associated with success ) and creates role models

    e.g. boxing is not seen as appropriate for younger people due to the aim being to hurt people . Opposition for horse racing due to perceived animal cruelty .
  • Role Models

    e.g. lack of role models for particular groups in particular sports such as British Asian footballers
  • Media Coverage
    brings in considerable money to Sports and helps them to grow e.g. football , rugby , cricket . It also attracts sponsors and creates role models enabling the sport to grow further .
  • Spectatorship
    lots of available Football and Rugby to watch on TV therefore more sponsorship and role models than Table Tennis etc.
  • Environment / Climate
    if living in the French Alps you are more likely to do skiing than someone living in London as you are on the doorstop of available snow
