  • What is the tabernacle?
    Consecrated hosts are kept here. Catholics believe that Christ is present here which inspires a deep sense of peace for Catholics that Christ is always caring for them
  • What is the altar?
    Place of sacrifice where bread and wine is consecrated. It is a reminder of Jesus' last supper, death and resurrection. Through the Eucharist, Christ is truly present, offering himself to the Father on behalf of humanity.
  • What is the crucifix?
    Cross bearing an image of Jesus to remind us of how he suffered sacrificing himself to save humanity. This inspires gratitude and love for what Christ has done.

    Word of God is read from here at mass which means Christ is truly present. It should be clearly heard because the Old Testament shows how God guided his people and the New testament gives Christians guidance on how to live

    Reminder of Jesus' suffering he endured out of love for humanity so Christians feel grateful.

    A symbol of Christ's victory over sin and death as he is no longer on the cross because he is risen - emphasising resurrection. This is a good choice for Christians wary about portraying Jesus through art
  • Purpose of Risen Christ?
    Emphasises the importance of Jesus' resurrection and reminds Christians in Holy communion they receive Body, blood, soul and divinity of the Risen Christ.

    Jesus lived in total obedience to God and showed this through his sacrifice.
