Cell biology B1

Cards (10)

  • What is the nucleus?
contains genetic material and controls the activities of the cell
  • What is the Mitochondria?
where respiration reactions take place. transfers the energy that cell needs to work
  • What is cytoplasm?
gel like substance where most of the chemical reactions happen, contains enzymes that control the chemical reactions
  • What is cell membrane?

holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out
  • What are ribosomes?
    Where protein synthesis occurs
  • what is the cell wall?
a rigid layer made of cellulose which supports the cell and strengthens it
  • What’s the permanent vacuole?
it contains cell sap which is a weak solution of sugars and salts
  • What are chloroplasts?
where photosynthesis occurs which makes food for plant
  • Chloroplasts contain chlorophyll which is a green substance which absorbs light needed for photosynthesis
  • Bacteria cells don’t have chloroplasts or mitochondria
