    What kind of career do you want and why? What kind of job do you think you will excel at? What things are you looking for in a job? What do you foresee as your long-term career? Create Career success is often you would prefer to have and experience, but you may be able to on compromise, and on the other side, list the "Non-negotiable" not willing to forgo.
  • Shortlist your interests
    Make a list of all your interests. You may have a lot of interests like singing, dancing, art, math, science, health, theater, etc. Under each category, list down subcategories that you may be interested in. Under arm, for example, you might just be into painting and not sketching. It may be possible that some of your interests are simply hobbies or leisure activities and not necessarily those you would want to pursue as a career.
  • List down your strengths
    What subjects and sports do you get awards for in school or in the community? What qualities do people admire in you? What do your parents and teachers usually commend you for? In which areas did you have special classes and extra training?
  • Highlight and match
    Match items with your strengths and weaknesses. For example, you like drawing and you got several awards in inter-school poster making contests. Another example might be that you are interested in children's health and you once were Teacher of the Day or Nurse of the Day in school. These matches will serve as a strong foundation in planning your career. If you are passionate about something and are good at it, then having a career in this area will definitely be for you.

    With the options that you have now, do some research. Look at the trends in the job market and see which career is the most practical for you. Your first choice might be a combination of your strengths and interests but will not provide you many job opportunities in the country.
